The Cambridge Centre for the Study of Platonism was well represented at the AAR, 17-20 November, in Denver, Colorado, USA. Dr. James Bryson, a fellow of the Centre, delivered a paper, entitled 'Platonic Love in Henry More's Ethics,' to the Platonism and Neoplatonism Unit's panel, 'Eros and Ascent: Jewish, Islamic, and Christian'; the Centre's Secretary, Daniel Tolan, delivered 'Ὁ Θεὸς ἔρως ἐστί: Origen and the Predication of God as ἔρως' to the Platonism and Neoplatonism Unit's panel 'From Plotinus, Gregory of Nyssa and Dionysius to Bonaventure, and Dante' and a second paper, entitled 'Between Monism and Tripartition Origen and the Theological Anthropology of Freedom,' to the Origen and the Roots of "Human Freedom" and "Human Dignity" in the West Seminar's panel 'Origen of Alexandria's Understanding of Human Freedom'.
The Centre's Director, Prof. Douglas Hedley, and Centre Members Prof. Kevin Corrigan and Prof. John Kenney participated in the Steering Comittee meeting for the Platonism and Neoplatonism Unit, Prof. Kevin Corrigan also chairing the section's three panels. Also, the SBL Mysticism, Esotericism, and Gnosticism in Antiquity Section devoted a unit to 'The Divine Double', which featured Centre Member Prof. Charles M. Stang's recent monograph, 'Our Divine Double'.
